2025 United Nations Ocean Conference

The Brahma Kumaris at UN Ocean Conference 3 in Nice, 9-13 June 2025

“The ocean speaks to us through bleached coral reefs, more frequent and harsher storms, wounded mangroves, and species that will never return,” said Rodrigo Chaves Robles, President of Costa Rica, at the opening of the 2025 United Nations Ocean Conference (UNOC3) in Nice. Co-hosted by Costa Rica and France, this landmark event brought together over 14,000 delegates from 175 countries—including 75 Heads of State—and more than 100,000 civil society participants, all united in accelerating progress on Sustainable Development Goal 14: Life Below Water.

Amid the scientific urgency and policy negotiations, the Brahma Kumaris offered a unique and much-needed voice. Their message: the ocean crisis cannot be solved solely by external action—it requires a deep inner shift in human consciousness. Representing a spiritual dimension often absent in environmental discourse, the Brahma Kumaris emphasized that our relationship with the ocean must be rooted in respect, awareness, and a sense of sacred responsibility.
