5th Report from UN Climate Change Conference COP29

11^th– 22^nd Nov. 2024 Baku, Azerbaijan

The countdown to the end of COP29 is upon us. The climate summit has two days left to agree on the finances towards developing countries to help them adapt to climate-fuelled weather disasters and transition to cleaner energy systems. According to the experts, around $1 trillion is needed annually by the end of the decade. Officials spent the first week trying to agree on new rules on carbon markets, the future of fossil fuels and efforts to mitigate the rise in global temperatures. Now, the outstanding items have been handed over to ministers, so they can use their political clout to get agreements across the line.
