Save our Ocean, Protect our Future

2022 UN Ocean Conference Lisbon, Portugal, 27 June – 1 July 2022

The Second United Nations Ocean Conference will take place from 27 June to 1 July 2022, at the Lisbon Altice Arena Convention Center (www.un.org/en/conferences/ocean2022).

The ocean covers 70 percent of the Earth’s surface, is the planet's largest biosphere, and is home to up to 80 percent of all life in the world. It generates 50 percent of the oxygen we need, absorbs 25 percent of all carbon dioxide emissions and captures 90 percent of the additional heat generated from those emissions. It is not just ‘the lungs of the planet’ but also its largest carbon sink - a vital buffer against the impacts of climate change.

Faith in Action for Climate and Sustainable Development

Multifaith Global Ethical Stocktake · Raising Hope Laudato Si’ · PaRD Annual Forum

In October 2025, faith leaders, climate advocates, and development partners from around the world came together to advance moral leadership on climate justice and sustainable development. Through three major global gatherings—the Multifaith Global Ethical Stocktake in Italy, the Raising Hope Laudato Si’ Conference in Castel Gandolfo and the PaRD Annual Forum in Istanbul—participants explored how spiritual wisdom can help turn climate commitments into meaningful action.

The Brahma Kumaris actively contributed across all three programs, offering meditation, spiritual reflection, and thought leadership grounded in inner transformation and ethical values. Their participation emphasized that lasting climate and development action begins with inner awareness—cultivating responsibility, non-violence, humility, and care—and flows outward into compassionate leadership and collective action.

Across these gatherings, Indigenous and ancestral wisdom, interconnection with the natural world, grassroots leadership, intergenerational solidarity, and accountability were uplifted as essential pathways for change. Together, participants affirmed that faith communities—supported by spiritual practices such as those shared by the Brahma Kumaris—hold a unique moral imagination capable of inspiring hope and building a just and sustainable future for people and planet.
