At the 23rd session of the human rights council, Ms Valériane Bernard, of the Brahma Kumaris, will be moderating a round table discussion on the subject of "The role of faith and religion in strengthening and maintaining peace and human rights". The event is sponsored by: the Spanish Society for International Human Rights Law (SSIHRL), International Observatory on the Human Right to Peace (IOHRP), International Association of Peace Messenger Cities (IAPMC), and the Foundation Dialogue Among Civilizations.

The objective of the event is to establish a common understanding of the role of faith and religions, in conflicts and disasters, to foster peace and non-violence in communities.

videostillindiaoneA Deutsche Welle (DW) TV crew visited the Solar One Project: India One at the Brahma Kumaris campus at Shantivan, Abu Road, Rajastan.  This short video gives an excellent oversight of the project as well as the use of solar power on other sites managed by Brahma Kumaris.   There is also a short interview with Dadi Janki who, at 97 years old, is the spiritual head of the organisation - and still very active.

This programme was broadcast in Germany 25 May 2013 21:30 - 22:00.

The Brahma Kumaris and the Pachamama Alliance have together created the Awakening the Dreamer Workshop, an opportunity to engage members of the public in the most urgent and necessary questions of this age:

* Where Are We? – looking at the environmental, social and spiritual condition of the human family

* How Did We Get Here? – finding the root causes of our modern malaise

* What is Possible Now? – examining the alternative scenarios for our future

* Where Do We Go From Here? – finding a role to play in creating the future

The experience is based on the proven Awakening the Dreamer Changing the Dream Symposium developed by The Pachamama Alliance. This workshop has integrated BK meditations, BK examples, the Earth Care Workshop and a specific BK video. The workshop can take people from confusion, despair or denial into hope and committed action in just 4 hours. It combines powerful video elements, thought-provoking interactive exercises and meditation to inspire participants to take a stand for an entirely future and to begin to see themselves with a role to play in creating that future.

GREEN THOUGHT FOR TODAY

Understanding the laws of nature does not mean that we are immune to their operations.
